Sleeping problems like insomnia make it difficult for some people to get enough sleep. As well as making you feel tired, this lack of sleep can cause physical illness, increasing your risk of heart disease and even obesity. Mentally, not getting enough sleep can lead to anxiety and can make it hard for you to concentrate. Lytham Therapies can help you get over your sleeping problem. Insomnia Hypnotherapy can bring your mind and body back into balance.

The importance of sleep

If we have prolonged periods of sleeplessness, the damage can affect us instantly or over time. For example, if you’ve insomnia and not been able to sleep and you have to drive, your inability to concentrate could cause an accident. Alternatively, over time the damage can build up leading to chronic health conditions, therefore Lytham Therapies can help you.

In the long-term insomnia sleeping problems can increase your risk of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. This is likely to be because our blood vessels repair when we sleep, if we don’t give them the chance to heal, problems occur.

Lytham Therapies is always researching insomnia and recent studies have also pointed to a link between insomnia and not sleeping with obesity. Interestingly those with insomnia who fail to get enough sleep are more likely to be obese. The reasons behind this are not clear. It is thought that those who don’t get enough sleep may not have the energy to exercise, or overeat to compensate for their lack of energy.

Sleep also helps us to learn better; it helps us to be more creative and become better at problem solving. If we start to have sleeping problems, these abilities can be hindered, Lytham Therapies can help. Over time this can affect daily life, impacting on your relationships and work life.

What is insomnia?

Insomnia is defined as difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep for long enough to feel refreshed the following morning. This happens even when you’ve had enough time to sleep through the night. Many of us will know how it feels when you just can’t drop off. It may be that you’re thinking about tomorrow’s to-do list, or you had a coffee after dinner. Or perhaps you found it easy to fall asleep, but keep on waking throughout the night. Either way, it can leave you feeling drained and stressed the next day. Those who suffer with insomnia will experience this feeling on a regular basis. Lytham Therapies can help you.
